Our home is Schio (Vicenza), in the heart of the Veneto industrial district, where mechanical expertise and engineering precision have shaped European automation for decades.
Founded as a family business, over more than forty years we have built our reputation on proven electromechanical competence: motors and electrospindles engineered to deliver reliability and operational continuity in demanding environments.

From a small workshop in the Veneto foothills to an OEM partner across Europe, the company milestones and product introductions that shaped how VEM works today.
VEM's story begins in Schio, making motor windings.
The second generation joins, alongside their father Armando Tonello.
A first run of patents through the early 2000s sharpens how VEM squares, calibrates and finishes stone, for accurate geometry, clean surfaces and better material yield.
A patented servo-ventilation system keeps the motor cool through the cut, so the spindle runs continuously.
VEM merges in its production company, Veneta Elettro Meccanica, uniting manufacturing and sales under one name.
The automatic tool changing patent enables the spindle to swap tools on its own, so the machine keeps working unattended.
A new site in Schio increases the in-house processing of advanced components, for tighter control over quality, timing and cost.
Luca and Paolo Tonello take the helm together: Luca directing the company, Paolo continuing to drive its technical innovation.
A patented electrospindle with built-in diagnostics, sensing its condition so problems surface before they become downtime.
A new identity brings into focus what VEM has always been: reliable, custom and European.
Nearly 50 years on: 100% in-house production, 300+ custom motors, an 8,000 m² facility, and spindles at work in machines worldwide.

We are not part of industrial groups and we do not build machinery. This means OEMs who compete in the same markets can work with us in complete confidence: no conflicting interests, no group strategy that overrides the relationship.

Every stage
under one roof.
Machining, winding, assembly and testing are carried out entirely within our Schio facility. Direct control at every stage ensures consistency between prototype and production. Performance validated in the first unit is maintained across all subsequent batches.
